Tumor Documentation System
With ONKOSTAR, your tumor documentation becomes simpler, more flexible, and more transparent: The system offers support for documentation alongside treatment, reporting to all state cancer registries in the German-speaking region (DACH region), and the certification of all DKG organ cancer centers.
The ONKOSTAR tumor documentation system is capable of adapting to the growing needs of clinical documentation. Flexible interfaces, an expandable, user-friendly UI, and the ability to network with other systems are central aspects of the ONKOSTAR software.

Data entry
With ONKOSTAR, we provide you with a clear and always up-to-date application for the documentation of tumor diseases. The system supports you in rapid entry as well as extensive, goal-oriented validation of your data.
The tumor documentation system provides you with a complete, chronological overview of a disease progression at a glance.
In addition, individual documentation templates can be created, with which the contents of the medical history can be summarized as a text block according to your own requirements.
Furthermore, in the area of oncological documentation, the system features uniform documentation for all entities with standardized forms. These adapt dynamically to the various diseases.
In this process, not only are fields shown or hidden depending on the context, but the contents of the fields (for example, TNM) also adapt to the disease.
For each field, there is also a help text with a description of the field and a summary of its intended uses.
Almost all ONKOSTAR content required for documentation and evaluation (forms, evaluations, R-scripts, etc.) is generated using user-friendly editors, which are also available to our clients.
This allows individual content to be implemented quickly and flexibly on your own.
ONKOSTAR enables you to record all relevant information for reportable and certification-relevant tumor diseases. In addition, together with a group of experts, we have identified further characteristics for you that go beyond the often insufficient standards. Especially in the area of systemic diseases, ONKOSTAR offers advanced recording options.
In the ONKOSTAR patient record, you immediately receive a comprehensive and structured overview of a patient’s current epicrisis.
In ONKOSTAR, you work with standardized forms regardless of the disease.
The available input fields are shown or hidden in the context of the disease or depending on previous documentation.
ONKOSTAR offers you extensive plausibility checks for the quality assurance of your data. The software intelligently distinguishes between reporting-relevant errors for cancer registration and warnings regarding certifications.
ONKOSTAR enables you to document based on the current treatment status. The creation of documents is not bound to rigid structures but can be freely defined.

Reporting to state cancer registries
As a development partner of eight state cancer registries in Germany and the manufacturer of the ONKOSTAR tumor documentation system, we know the requirements of both sides very well. Our goal is the optimal exchange of your clinical data with the state cancer registries. Transparency and traceability of reports are just as important to us as a smooth process during data transmission.
Define specific criteria. Based on these, ONKOSTAR automatically populates worklists for reportable events using information from the hospital information system.
All relevant state-specific settings for registry reports are available to you for each facility.
In the report overview, you get a quick overview of all information to be reported for your facility and its status.
In the patient records, you also see a summary of the generated reports and their status.
Your reports are extensively checked and validated. Change reports are only generated by the system if report-relevant data has actually been edited.
Evaluations
ONKOSTAR provides optimal support for your certification processes or the collection of quality indicators. You can access our evaluations for all certifications of the German Cancer Society (DKG) or define and monitor your own key figures.
With ONKOSTAR, we support you in your certifications as an oncological center (DKG, Adjumed)
Your basic data and key figures are calculated asynchronously in the background during documentation. This allows you to view your data at any time without delay.
It is important to us that you can always trace your key figures. Current data is clearly presented, and you can easily and simply view the patients and characteristics behind the data. For the traceability of the calculation, we provide you with the calculation formula for each key figure clearly as a table. For each required characteristic, we also store all requirements and features that you must document for the required values.
There is a certificate of conformity for all three OncoBox applications, which ensures a functional connection.
For individual evaluations, ONKOSTAR offers you an extensive research module with which any evaluations can be produced from all forms.
We implement newly published requirements for you promptly and support your facility in reviewing the key figures.
Cross-facility collaboration
ONKOSTAR enables you to document in compliance with data protection regulations together with other centers.
As a web-based system, ONKOSTAR can also be made accessible to additional cooperation partners via a secure connection. Access is via your individual login data, with permissions controlled via user groups. ONKOSTAR is fully multi-tenant and can manage any number of patient cohorts for you.
In ONKOSTAR, you can define any patient groups/patient cohorts yourself.
You can freely distribute patients into these collectives and control access yourself via user groups.
The individual patients are linked via a Master Patient Index (MPI). This enables the joint editing of records.
We have implemented a reporting procedure for you that enables secure data exchange between different ONKOSTAR installations. This allows cooperation partners to be connected or entire treatment networks to be established.
In ONKOSTAR, we provide you with a web service that can accept or export HL7, CSV, or other data.
Expandability and flexibility
For planned research projects or extended documentation, special characteristics or custom forms for data collection are often required. ONKOSTAR reacts quickly, dynamically, and openly to your individual requirements and needs.
The software is configurable and expandable according to your ideas and challenges.
With ONKOSTAR, we provide you with a flexible system with extensive editors. You have the possibility to expand characteristics, generate your own characteristics, or edit or create entire forms from scratch.
Create your own evaluation views with individual frequencies and/or key figures.
Manage the required studies and systemic therapy protocols independently.
We provide you with an API that makes it possible to expand ONKOSTAR independently with regard to your own processes and requirements.
Create your own individual print templates for the different forms.
Integration
Our goal is to integrate ONKOSTAR as far as possible into your existing IT infrastructure.
In doing so, we rely on standards but also offer additional options to reduce double entries to a minimum.
Import structured master data or diagnosis and surgical data from your hospital information system via HL7.
As an open system, ONKOSTAR enables the data exchange of all available information as CSV or XML data. These can be imported manually or automatically via web service.
Transmit forms or conference decisions in PDF format back to your hospital information system via the HL7 MDM interface.

Patient survey
With our survey tool SURVEYSTAR, patient surveys can be carried out easily and effectively.
Through integration into ONKOSTAR, you have the opportunity to survey patients digitally before, during, or after a hospital stay and evaluate the results directly in ONKOSTAR. For example, as part of a follow-up workflow, patients can be automatically surveyed on a recurring basis about their current state of health at regular, freely configurable intervals after completion of therapy. The results flow into the patient record and can thus provide valuable information on the success of a therapy.
