The digital survey tool SURVEYSTAR helps you efficiently collect and analyze patient feedback and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and seamlessly integrate them into existing hospital systems.

SURVEYSTAR in everyday clinical practice
Through several standardized rounds of questionnaires administered at the beginning, during, and at the end of a hospital stay, the progression of self-assessment can be systematically recorded and evaluated. Using scheduled invitations, you can customize the timeframe, content, and order of the questionnaires for each patient. For individuals without internet access, the questionnaires can be printed out and completed on paper.
- Basic oncology screening: capturing the four core dimensions required by the the German Cancer Society (DKG) – psychosocial distress, physical symptoms, risk of malnutrition, and social and legal needs – as PROs
- Uro-oncology outcome monitoring: systematically identifying changes in quality of life and functional impairments and offering targeted counseling or supportive therapies. At the same time, the collected data serves to objectively measure the success of treatments.
- Follow-up after treatment completion: automatically recurring health status surveys at freely configurable intervals

How the patient survey works
Example: Basic oncology screening
For basic oncology screening, you can use the ONCO-ROUTES questionnaire from the University Cancer Center Regensburg (UCC-R). In addition, you can use the editors in SURVEYSTAR to create and maintain your own questionnaires.
A clinical request is created in the HIS and transmitted to the tumor documentation system. From there, SURVEYSTAR receives the assignment of patient to questionnaire.
If ONKOSTAR is used for tumor documentation, the request can be created directly there and accessed from the HIS.
Based on the order, the system generates either a cover letter with a QR code or an email with a link that leads to the designated survey.
The patient scans the QR code with a smartphone or tablet or opens the link in the email. The corresponding questionnaire appears immediately on the mobile device and can be completed there.
Once the survey is complete, SURVEYSTAR sends the completed questionnaire back to the tumor documentation system. When using ONKOSTAR, the key metrics are automatically recalculated – eliminating the need for manual data entry or additional data collection steps. Optionally, the results can also be sent back to the HIS.
Elevated screening scores become immediately visible and can trigger targeted actions, such as initiating a psycho-oncology consultation.
The quality indicator overview in ONKOSTAR updates automatically as soon as the survey results are received.

- Surveys conducted in compliance with data protection regulations: depending on the survey, you decide whether responses are linked to specific respondents or remain completely anonymous. The survey tool remains technically isolated from clinical systems to the greatest extent possible.
